Yes, indeed, this is a long time coming, but when you have numerous graduations to attend, road trips to take, a clothing store to manage, and a wedding proposal to receive (J), you get *pretty* occupied. Needless to say, flipping through the TV channels to find Under the Tuscan Sun reminds you that your blog does not have any sense of closure. So I shall do it now…nearly two months after my return trip home…yea, I know.
Anyway, in closing, I honestly could not have asked for a better or more satisfying study abroad experience. I did not do a single thing that I regretted (which may be a negative for some people, but seriously not my cup of tea!) besides maybe not getting to go to every country throughout Europe (Spain, England, Switzerland…etc...). I had a wonderful time, and I truly see myself telling people about it for the rest of my life. I wonder when people will finally get sick of me.
I miss cappuccino bars. I miss the walk by famous landmarks, down picturesque streets, and over sturdy bridges. I miss cheap but wonderful wine for dinner. I miss Euro coins. I miss cooking on my gas stove. I miss music in the streets. I miss not paying for gas. I miss train rides. I miss the beach. I miss being Diane Lane and paying 10 Euros for ice cream. I miss cheap Chinese food. I miss piazzas, palazzos, and fountains. I miss the Pantheon. The Colosseum. The Vatican. Hadrian’s Villa. Orvieto. Florence. Siena. Venice. Capri. Pompeii. Vienna. Salzburg. Paris. Rome.
I miss my classmates, old and new:)
But to get through two plane rides, Customs, and 12 hours in the air to see my family there to pick me up at the airport is more than I’ll ever need to fill any void ultimately departing Rome might have left.
So here is my closure. Thank you so much for following me through my European travels. I hope it taught you a little something (my mom seriously feels like she’s been to Italy now because of my pictures and blog posts) because it sure as flip taught me. I also hope I could entertain you a bit! I like to think my writing is worth just a bit of someone else’s time. You have no idea how much it means to me that people read this little blog. Really.
